I had a parent-teacher conference this week with Nikita's teachers. they are concerned that he may have some developmental delays that would prevent him from advancing to the Pre-K class next year. Basically they say he is acting like somewhat of a two to three year old but still has the intelligence of a much older child.
I am gearing up to try to find somewhere that can fully evaluate Nikita. He had an eye exam this week and they said that his eyes are healthy but there are some developmental delays there. The great news is that developmental delays can usually be corrected by therapy. The frustrating part is that I don't know how to determine the full spectrum of his developmental delays. My doctor hasn't been much help. I am looking for another pediatrician in the area but the ones who accept our pitiful insurance are not accepting any new patients.
So, pray that we are able to sort all this out in a relatively quick period of time. i don't want my little boy to be held too far back from school, especially becasue he is so bright.
Hi - you don't know me but I wanted to suggest this group, we use their
process with my son who has developmental delays (he's not adopted, we've
just begun that process). If you want more info feel free to email me.
